Socials, events and out-of-term activties
Fancy doing something after lessons?
The simplest way of keeping track of Dancesport's socials - whether they're just a night out, or anything similar - is to join our facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/groups.php?ref=sb#/group.php?gid=97373442133 . We'll make facebook events for every social and automatically invite all members of the group :)
Our lessons are already a great social activity, but if you want more, our social secretary has the job of looking after Dancesport socials. If you have any recommendations, drop us an email or chat to us at the lessons and practices.
After our lessons on a Tuesday night we head to The Courtyard (The University of York's Student Union Bar in Langwith) for a drink and a chat- it's right next to where the lessons are held - how could we resist?. Everyone's welcome to join us, it's very informal - it's a bit like going for a drink with anyone else really...fun :)
And if you're up for a bigger night than just staying on campus- we're looking forward to going out to town on bigger dancesport socials. We'll keep you informed!
Rock Academy Socials
The Rock Academy in York (the dance studio run by Joel Chapman, our teacher) holds a dancing social every few weeks and this is a great chance to show off what you've been learning in lessons. Different dancing music is scrolled through, and you can get up to dance to as much (or as little) as you like! They even have a coffee-bar.
We'll let society members know the times and dates of Joel's socials as they happen, through the mailing list. The Rock Academy is located on Priory Street, York. YO1 6EX.
Dancesport Summer Ball
Our biggest event of the year is the Dancesport Summer Ball, because what's a ball without dancing? Last year our Ball included a 3 course meal, demonstrations, mini-lessons, free photoshoot and plenty of opportunity to dance! It all takes place at the end of the year and we'll keep you posted if you're on our mailing list. We'll be organising and holding the ball in the summer term - so it's really quite exciting!
And anything else...
If you've got ideas for socials you think you can get Dancesport members interested, then get in contact with us and we'll see what we can do to organise it. Past events include club nights, film nights and even themed Valentine's dances.
