Welcoming the new Committee
That's the end of another Dancesport year! Roses marks the end of each year for York Dancesport after a season of competitions, lessons and events. This year we've welcomed more members than ever before (there are nearly 300 people currently registered with York Dancesport and many more on our mailing list), we're still improving our results in competitions throughout the year and we've raised more money for charity this year than ever before. I think we can call this a pretty good year for York Dancesport and I'm very pleased and proud to have been a part of it.
The end of this year means we welcome the new committee, elected by you last term, to their positions. Abi Wilson's your new president and with the rest of the team they're going to carry Dancesport even further for another successful year. The end of the year was marked with a solid 3 - 1 victory over Lancaster in Roses- an event we've now won for the past 3 years. It was a great team performance that helped win the points for York even though we only had the best part of a week (in which the vast majority of us had exams) to learn the routines in. Congratulations to everyone who took part, I imagine bits and bobs will be available to read or watch via the University's media outlets very soon, so keep your eye out.
I think we've done a great job this year to keep Dancesport moving forwards and i'm very proud to have lead the team that did this this year, and wish Dancesport all the best for the future.
Yours,
Luke Malkin
(York Dancesport President 09/10)
