Yep. You heard it here first. The ball's started rolling for York Come Dancing 2009...again...
You see the first problem with York Come Dancing is its name. The last York Come Dancing was York Come Dancing 2009. It was held in 2009, it has every right to be York Come Dancing 2009. Of course, this makes it a pain to accuratley refer to the next York Come Dancing, as it will be held in 2009- though it is a different academic year.
So your first bit of definition is the following. The York Come Dancing you can check the results of, see what happened and even meet the contestants of on this very website is York Come Dancing 2008/2009. The NEXT York Come Dancing is York Come Dancing 2009/2010. There you go. That's that problem sorted.
But yes, the ball's rolling. Application forms are being requested for Central Hall, contacts are being made, Nouse and YSTV have been contacted- even judges have semi-confirmed. Yes, York Come Dancing 2009/2010 is underway, and i'm going to do the best I can to put on a great show and raise a lot of money for RAG in the process. Last outings's main organiser and host, Matt Cornock, has been assigned a watchful eye position over what we're up to, but unfortunately won't be hosting our event. This means that you may be left with little old me as your host. We'll see how it goes.
What's most exciting about this stage of the organisation is picking the contestants. It's suddenly quite a powerful position to be promoted to to have the choice of who I think the top 11 "campus celebrities" are in the university. I'm looking for the 11 most influential and well known figures to learn to dance with our Dancesport Team members for the chance to win the ultimate bit of pride someone can posess. I've got my eyes peeled. I'll be scanning the Nouse and Vision's top 50 power lists like a hawk and seeing who's making a stir for the right reasons. I'm really looking forward to this :)
Keep Dancing,
Luke
