What the rest of the term holds- Summer 09
The Dancesport summer ball at the Hilton this year seemed to go down pretty well; and i've heard many accounts of how much fun everyone had. I do regret arriving late (I was in a pantomime dress rehearsal) and the fact that the Viennesse Waltz eluded me when dancing it alone (in my defence i'm doing it backwards in Joel's show next week- more on that later) but these things are minor details. I really hope you enjoyed yourselves, and I hope there are more opportunities to hold events as a society throughout the next year so people can take part and really get to know each other and the rather wonderfully delightful, ever-so-slightly left of centre ballroom and latin society that we have here.
I'm keen to stress that both the Summer Ball's occurence and that in 2 full weeks the university of York will have turned into a conference park are both matters that don't stop Dancesport moving until the end of term. Tomorrow (Saturday week 8) is the last chance to go over steps and technique with Joel for our Woodstock performance- the final event of term on Saturday week 9. As I hinted at mentioning later when mentioning earlier, Joel's show- The 5th Annual Student Showcase at the Rock Church in York will be lighting the York Arts Scene on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You can find out more information or book tickets to this event at http://www.rockchurch.org.uk/default.asp though we'll be making a social out of one of the nights so you can join us there. Myself, Harriet and Claire are taking part in the event so please do come and support/mock us (mocking is only allowed of me, and is allowed by everyone except Henri)
Other than that we're done for the summer- so you have about 14 weeks without Dancesport. We'll be back with a bang though with the Fresher's Fair, bringing in new students, the possibility of early-in-the-year competitions and don't forget York Come Dancing!
New feature to our website by the way (it's going to be set up after I post this blog). Use the forums to request song tracks that you'd like to use to dance to. Also feel free to just mention songs you'd really like to dance to and would like to know what dance is suitable. Use the forum with your membership to the website and enjoy yourselves.
Have a ball, that's all.
Luke
