Dancesport Diary- An Introduction

Hey everyone,

In an attempt to keep you, the reader, up to speed with the workings of dancesport- i'm going to be providing blogs from time to time giving some insights into what the society's up to. Everyone harks on about how important it is that a society remains transparant and open and this, my friends, is a response to anyone with this cry. So sit back and gather around the hearth while I tell you a story...

For anyone who doesn't know me, I'm Luke. I took over as president of the society at the end of week 2 this term; so i'm new. We did vote to expand the committee last term though, so dancesport is, now more than ever before, well equipped with a team full of enthusiatic, bright young people. Rest assured i'll be doing everything I can to keep dancesport improving over the next year- but for your comfort and dancesport's safety, you should know that i'm by no means alone at the reigns.

What's changed/What's changing?
Nothing major is changing. I am very enthusiastic to improve dancesport as a society, but this won't be happening from a grass-routes level. Anyone involved dancesport throughout this year will know that dancesport is already expanding. That is mostly down to Claire, (last year's president, now vice-president) Joel (our teacher) and the rest of last year's committee. All three have started the ball rolling. It's the job of the current committee not to waste the opportunity that is has been set up for us. We have great dancers, we have a a lot of regular members and we have fun. We even won our first bit of competition silverware at NUDC this year, as well as proving our talents by beating Lancaster University Dancesport as part of Roses.

So welcome to dancesport 09/10 - it's going to be a great year.

Keep Dancing!
Luke
